Festivities Continued from Page 25 ioners make the effort to prepare the grounds a full two days before the celebration. By noon July 5, according to Father Jonathan, "the grounds are completely clean, with luck." The local Lions Club has handled parade planning for the Fourth of July for 13 years. Joe Prom has been in charge for the past three.

There were 185 units in Monday's tarade, according to Prom, one of the argest parades St. Joseph has ever seen. The Lions Club and the local Jaycees took a cue from the church's summer celebration almost five years ago to set the stage for community moneymakers in the spring and the fall. The celebration theme in the form of Springfling and Oktoberfest has attracted a college crowd to the community for beer and brats and beer and burgers respectively. The money which has been brought in as a result of the party atmosphere, has gone to pay for a park and picnic grounds on 40 acres of land on the community's west side.

St. Joseph's partying has paid off in the past and the parties continue because they've become an excellent forum for community promotion as well as a bond of unity for the church.
