Killebrew Leads Twins to Victory ORLANDO, Fla. (UPI) -Minnesota Twins slugger Harmon Killebrew doesn't believe spring training is a barometer for the regular baseball season, but he wished it was.

Killebrew hit his third home run in five games and was for-3 Wednesday in Minnesota's 5-0 victory over the New York Yankees. It was the second 3-for-3 day in row for Killebrew, who hit 41 home runs last season for the Twins. He has had eight more home run years. "Sometimes I've hit well in the spring and then not very good in the regular season," said the 34-year-old Twin third baseman. "Sometimes the reverse has been true.

But I try not to, get too excited about spring." Minnesota manager Bill Rigney, however, is excited. "Killebrew looks 50 per cent better this than last." hitting a home run for the Twins was rookie Paul Pozell in the third inning off Yankee starter and loser Stan Bahnsen, who gave up 11 hits in the four innings he pitched. The club's first of the spring, were belted by Jake Gibbs and Tony Solaita. Kalla Hits 700 For Burlington Harvey Kalla zeroed in on the ten pins Wednesday night at the Waite Park Lanes as he rolled an even 700 series. Kalla combined scores of 278, 213, and 209 for the series total, which paced the Burlington Northern Fellowship Club team to victory in the Waite Park Classic League.

Maravich Leads Atlanta Victory By United Press International Pete Maravich is beginning to return big dividends on the $1.6 million invested in him by the 1 Atlanta Hawks. Maravich, the greatest scorer in college basketball history, saw his pro career get off to a slow and troublesome start as both he and the Hawks floundered badly for the first half of this season's National Basketball Association campaign.

Maravich had trouble adjusting to his Hawk teammates and to the team's style of play, but under the patient handling of coach Richie Guerin he has learned his lessons well. His improvement over the second half of the season is a major factor in Atlanta's bid for a playoff berth. The Hawks moved another step closer to the playoffs Wednesday night when Maravich dumped in 37 points and collected nine assists in Atlanta's 139-98 rout of the Phoenix Suns. left to a standing Maravicon from the Atlanta crowd of 6,266 with over nine minutes left to play as the Hawks were never seriously threatened after the first period. Maravich tallied 15 of his points in the opening quarter when Atlanta sped to a 37-22 advantage and the Hawks increased their lead to 75-51 by halftime.

Atlanta led by as much as 4 45 points in the second half. It needed the win to keep games ahead of Cincinnati in the fight for second place in the Central Division. The Royals kept pace by trimming New York 120-118 in overtime in the only other NBA game. Tom Van Arsdale's 31 points helped the Royals past New York a after Cincinnati had blown a 10-point lead in the final quarter. Nate Archibald's five straight points, in the overtime session Cincinnati seal its win and prevented the Knicks from clinching a tie for the Atlantic Division title.

Orginally it must have served a purpose, but in the latter half of the 20th century especially for the female of the species those bits of fuzz above the eyes have long since become vestigial accoutrements. Now eyebrow experts, who masquerade under names like Pablo of Elizabeth Arden's counsel us to shave them off or blank them out with bleach and replace them arched pencil lines or, worse, beige smudges.

The reason, of course, is that's the way people looked in 1930's movies, and the 1930's look is the way Paris wants peopine dress. St. Laurent and Marc Bohan of Christian Dior and the rest of the silver screenstruck designers, they cite the sexy looks Marlene Dietrich and Jean Harlow managed in the 1930s with the aid of curvilinear lines on their foreheads. The truth is, now that fashion has become indistinguishafrom the late late show, from which brows were all banished while the spotlight was put on luscious, juicy red lips, there is no longer any place for eyebrows. On the contrary, the mouth, which went from full blown beestung glory in the '30s to near ignominious obscurity in the late '50s, has been making a slow comeback.
